A Glimpse Inside the Studio

Located in one half of my (blessedly heated) garage, the pottery studio includes both complete pieces and works-in-progress. Additionally, there are two pottery wheels, one Skutt kiln, several canvas-covered tables, and a truly obscene amount of glazes, underglazes, and pottery tools collected over the last decade or so. Other artworks--such as paintings, drawings, jewelry, and greeting cards--tend to travel throughout the house and can be found practically everywhere. Fortunately, I (almost) always remember where I left it all.

Hi, I'm Lindsay

After graduating from Hurricane High School in 2003, I attended Marshall University.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 with an B.F.A. in Ceramics.  Shortly after graduating, my pottery was accepted into Tamarack.  Since 2008, I have been creating handmade, carved pottery and selling it to Tamarack and small galleries throughout the United States.  I have also participated in Kentucky Crafted and craft fairs throughout West Virginia.  In 2011, I began teaching pottery classes at Capitol Clay Arts Company in South Charleston, West Virginia.  I am currently teaching both a wheel-thrown pottery class and a hand-built pottery class on Wednesday nights. In my time at Capitol Clay, I realized just how much I enjoyed teaching.  So, I decided to earn a second degree, and in 2016, I received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marshall University.  Now, I am very happy to be back at Hurricane High School as a part of their Visual Arts program.

I currently live with my husband, our nine-year old son, and our Dalmatian, Sophie. When I am not teaching, you can find me creating my own artwork, reading, writing, walking, or binge-watching one of my favorite shows. If you would like to learn more about my work as a teacher, please visit my Teaching Website.
